Aquaculture: A Growing Industry

By 2030, the aquaculture industry will need to increase production by 27 million tons just to maintain current levels of consumption, according to the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization. Failure to meet these new demands is not an option because seafood accounts for 20% of the global population’s protein intake.

At BiOWiSH Technologies, we help aquaculture producers meet the demand for increased seafood in a way that is easy, safe, and sustainable. Our biological solutions work to shift the existing ecology of the environment to favor beneficial microorganisms.

Follow the BiOWiSH® aquaculture strategy below:

BiOWiSH® AquaFarm improves pond water quality

With the challenge of increased production, aquaculture producers are facing declining pond water quality. Poor pond water not only causes environmental pollution in surrounding waterways, but also increases the mortality of fish and shrimp due to pathogen buildup in the water. Simply put, ponds with good water quality are less challenging for fish and shrimp growth.

The first step for all ponds is to restore and maintain good water quality. BiOWiSH® AquaFarm makes this easy. Good microorganisms within our product reclaim the water, shifting the biological balance. The result is a pond that allows aquatic creatures to thrive.

BiOWiSH® MultiBio 3PS supplements shrimp and fish diets

From the hatchery to the nursery to production ponds, shrimp face many disease pressures such as vibrio. Diet is just as important as water quality when combating these pressures.

BiOWiSH® MultiBio 3PS is a direct fed microbial that, when added to the shrimps’ diets, cultivates good microorganisms in the gut under many stress conditions. It can be coated onto both sinking shrimp feed and floating pelleted fish feed.

Join the BiOWiSH® Aquaculture Program

In hatchery and maturation tanks the combination of BiOWiSH® AquaFarm and BiOWiSH® MultiBio 3PS provides production improvements in systems with poor water quality and disease pressure such as Vibrio. The combined use of BiOWiSH® AquaFarm and BiOWiSH® MultiBio 3PS provides improved survivability and quality of production under stress conditions.

By incorporating BiOWiSH® solutions into current farm practices, aquaculture producers will be able to produce more shrimp and increase their profits.
